Daughters of Charity Services is a United Way agency that strives to meet the needs of the community with quality service. Our medical clinic serves over 7,000 patients annually. The organization also coordinates a community-wide sponsorship program to provide 400+ children with school supplies and clothes and 300+ families with Christmas gifts and food.
Quality service and extraordinary efforts of dedicated staff have earned the organization various awards. In 2002 the San Antonio Business Journal honored our medical program with the "Health Care Heroes" award for outreach to the community. In years past, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition recognized our maternal child and health program as a model. Our wellness director won the Prudential Salute to San Antonio's Good Health Award. In 1995 the Corporate Fund for Children awarded our child development program the Best of Texas Award. The organization is a member of the Access to Care for the Uninsured (ACU), a collaboration of local health providers that work towards increasing access, availability and efficiencies in local health provider agencies. Other members of ACU include CentroMed, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, Christus Santa Rosa. In 2005 our child development administrator, Elisa Romasanta received the Administrator of the Year Award and the organization was selected as the Corporation of the Year by the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our child development programs are licensed by the city and state, and our De Paul Family Center program e has received a four star designated vendor certification from Child Care Delivery Services. The organization is affiliated with the Texas Licensed Child Care Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children. Our child development programs are licensed for 256 children by the state of Texas. In 2003, our child development center at the De Paul Family Center was granted National Accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Fewer than 30 childcare centers in the San Antonio area (out of a total of over 450 centers in San Antonio) have attained this accreditation with only two of them located south of Highway 90.
In 2005 our child development administrator, Elisa Romasanta received the Administrator of the Year Award and the organization was selected as the Corporation of the Year by the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children as National Accreditation was bestowed on our child development center at the De Paul Family Center. This center is one of the 29 centers of over 450 center based childcare centers in the U.S.
